Immediate Search Protocol for Missing Persons is launched by SSP-DF

The new policy establishes the creation of a district registry of missing persons, in addition to psychological assistance and legal advice for family members.

With the aim of increasing the number of missing persons found in the first 24 hours, the Federal District Government (GDF) launched, this Tuesday (6), the Integrated Protocol for the Immediate Search for Missing Persons.

The protocol establishes that all available data on the missing person be shared with 31 GDF agencies, including security forces, mobility services, among others, at the time the incident is registered.

Society has an important role in helping to locate and identify the missing person
"The first 24 hours are essential in the search for missing persons. The more information we have and the more people involved, the greater the chances of success in the search," says João Carlos Berka, executive secretary of the Keruv Institute.

The new measure is part of the Integrated District Network for Humanized Care for Missing Persons, created in February of this year, and will involve work on three axes: prevention, tackling the disappearance of people and assistance to victims and families of missing persons within the Federal District.

DF has the highest rate of missing persons in Brazil

The Federal District recorded more than 92 disappearances per thousand inhabitants in 2023. The data presented by the 18th edition of the Brazilian Public Security Forum places the country's capital as the champion in the proportion of this type of occurrence throughout the country. At least 2,594 people were considered missing in Brasília last year.
